Isaac Tung is a Partner in Intellectual Property practice and a member of the IP Protection & Management Group.

Isaac has a wealth of expertise and experience in IP protection, portfolio and rights management. He is well versed in the filing and prosecution of patents, trade marks and designs applications, and shares his valuable expertise with his clients in their overall management of their intellectual property portfolios in Singapore and worldwide. Isaac regularly conducts IP audits for his clients.

In the area of branding, Isaac works with many leading household names, including retailers, telecoms companies and financial institutions to help develop, promote and protect their brands. Isaac is very familiar with the use of the Madrid Protocol in world-wide filing strategies to maximize cost savings for his clients. He also undertakes trade mark oppositions/cancellations and domain name recovery for his clients to protect their rights. In the area of patents, Isaac advises on all aspects of patent law and counseling, including rendering freedom to operate and patent infringement opinions, conducting due diligence, technology transfer, licensing and negotiations, joint research and development. Isaac also advises on local export control regulations for his many foreign-based clients who conduct R&D activities in Singapore. Isaac prepares and reviews IP documentation, such as licensing agreements, technology transfer agreements, collaboration agreements as well as the transfer of IP assets.

Highlights of Isaac’s career include co-representing a large US drug company in arbitration proceedings against a China-based entity arising from a breach of a R&D agreement. Amongst the court cases he has been involved in is the first registered design infringement case under the Registered Designs Act where Isaac successfully defended his client and also invalidated the registered design.

Isaac is a member of the Licensing Executives Society (Singapore) and serves as a member of the Ethics Review Committee of the Singapore Polytechnic.
