Soh Yin Chuin is a Partner in Financial Services, specialising in domestic and cross-border ship financing. His experience includes secured and unsecured vessel lending and leasing transactions, including syndicated loans, leveraged leases, ship mortgages, and general security documentation. He has represented local and foreign banks, financial institutions, equity investors, shipping trusts, owners and lessees in various loan and leasing transactions.

His recent experience includes:

 

acting for a syndicate of 17 banks in connection with its provision of credit facilities aggregating US$750 million, secured by a fleet of 24 vessels flagged in Singapore, Hong Kong and Liberia;

acting for a Singapore shipping trust in connection with a US$515 million syndicated revolving credit facility;

acting for a Singapore shipping trust in connection with the leveraged operating leases of 17 vessels flagged in Panama, Singapore, Bahamas, Cyprus, Liberia and Malta, with an aggregate contract value of US$797 million;

acting for a major Taiwanese shipowner in connection with the lease financing of two bulk carriers;

acting as Singapore counsel to a major Norwegian bank in connection with credit facilities amounting to US$2.3 billion to a major Norwegian rig owner to refinance its fleet of rigs;

acting as Singapore counsel to a consortium of German banks and investors in connection with a EUR700 million credit facility to finance the acquisition of a Singapore subsidiary of a large German container shipping company;

acting for a Singapore borrower in connection with an US$80 million credit facility to assist its acquisition of units in a Singapore listed business trust; and

acting for a Chinese shipowner in connection with the sale and purchase of 10 vessels with an aggregate contract price of US$174 million.

Yin Chuin was awarded the NUS-ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship to the National University of Singapore, where he completed his LLB (Hons) degree in 2003. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 2004 and joined Allen & Gledhill as an Associate after completing his pupillage. In 2009, he was seconded to the London office of Linklaters LLP.
