Julie Sim is a Partner in Financial Services. She has broad experience in domestic and international financings. Her banking and finance practice includes advising banks and sponsors on project financings in various sectors as well as acting for both lenders and major corporate borrowers on regional and domestic syndicated loans, structured and acquisition financings and debt restructurings.

Julie rejoined Financial Services as a Partner in 2008, having been there as an Associate from 1994 to 1999. Julie practised in London from 1999 to 2007, first with Baker & McKenzie and then with Baker Botts. In addition to advising on a broad range of finance-related matters, Julie’s practice in London included, in particular, the structuring of pan-European real estate investment funds, subscription financings, leveraged buy-outs and mergers and acquisitions.

Julie graduated from Leicester University with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1991 and from King’s College, London University with an LLM in 1993. She was called to the Bar at Middle Temple in 1992 and the Singapore Bar in 1994. In 1999, she was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales.

Acted for CIMB Bank Berhad in a US$100 million facility to Mapletree India China Fund Ltd. to finance real estate investments in India and China.

Acted for AIMS AMP Capital Industrial REIT Management Limited in a S$175 million senior secured facility to finance real property acquisitions.

Acted for Singapore Power in a series of loan facilities totalling S$2.4 billion.

Acted for Oiltanking Odfjell Terminal Singapore Pte Ltd in a S$200 million project financing facility for the construction and development of storage tanks, pipes, berthing, handling and logistics facility.

Acted for DBS Bank Ltd. in a US$150 million facility to PT Excelcomindo Pratama.

Acted for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts Asia Limited in a US$280 million acquisition of Unisteel Technology Ltd.

Acted for Svenska Handelsbanken AB (as arranger) in a USD275 million financing of the Perstorp Group's acquisition of the Isocyanates business.

Acted for Apax Partners in financing the leveraged buyout of the BTR paper business for a gross consideration of US$810 million.

Acted for Calpine Corporation in a US$800 million acquisition of a 1200-megawatt combined cycle gas turbine power station in the U.K.
