J. Sathia is a Partner in Litigation & Dispute Resolution. His practice encompasses litigation and arbitration, particularly, in building and construction related disputes having been involved in the following notable matters:

 

recently obtained a dismissal of a substantial claim against an international paint manufacturer in the Singapore High Court;

acted for a Singapore statutory body in arbitrations relating to infrastructure and engineering works where claims were in excess of S$300 million;

acted for an international supplier of equipment for construction works in an international arbitration relating to disputes arising from business acquisitions;

acted for a Fortune 500 company in a claim arising from the construction of a chemical processing plant;

acted for the Singapore Government in disputes arising from the construction of two schools;

acted for an international coal supplier in an ICC Arbitration against an Indonesian coal producer; and

acted for a statutory body in an ICC Arbitration instituted by an Austrian company in respect of a design and build sewage treatment plant project.

Sathia’s practice also extends to corporate and advisory work in relation to building, construction and infrastructure projects having advised in the following matters:

 

advising on and drafting contract documentation for engineering, procurement and construction, design, build, operate and transfer, and turnkey projects;

reviewing and advising on tender documentation, tender processes and contractual framework for building, construction and infrastructure projects;

advising on and drafting project management and consultancy agreements for building and construction projects; and

advising on regulatory and compliance issues relevant to the undertaking of building and construction activities in Singapore.

Sathia graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 2002 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2003 when he joined Allen & Gledhill. He was seconded to 4 Pump Court Chambers, London in 2007/08.
