Moi Sok Ling is a Partner in Intellectual Property & Technology and a member of the IP Protection and Management Practice Group.

Sok Ling is an experienced IP specialist, having spent ten years in private practice specialising in IP law. She advises on and handles a broad range of matters involving trade mark, patent, design, copyrights, domain name, advertising, data protection, internet-related IP and confidentiality issues. Her practice encompasses both contentious and non-contentious aspects of IP work, and covers all three main categories of dealing with IP rights, namely establishment, commercialisation and enforcement.

Sok Ling has significant experience in advising and developing branding strategies for her clients, for whom she regularly conducts IP audits and brand clearance searches. She is an expert in the filing and prosecution of trade marks and designs, and manages worldwide IP portfolio for a large number of leading household names from industries as diverse as oil and gas, technology and telecommunications, retail and hospitality, financial and insurance, media and entertainment, healthcare and beauty, food and beverage.

On the commercialisation front, Sok Ling reviews, negotiates and prepares a wide range of commercial documentation related to transfer of IP assets, securitisation of IP assets, licensing, co-existence, co-branding, advertising and agency, media editorial and publishing, supply, contract manufacturing, distributorship, research and development, non-disclosure of confidential information, franchising and e-commerce. She also undertakes due diligence on IP assets in high profile merger and acquisition transactions.

Sok Ling has practical and relevant experience in IP contentious work, having represented both local and international clients in trade mark opposition, revocation and invalidation proceedings as well as in IP litigation and enforcement matters involving Anton Piller Order and police raid. She maintains an active practice in regional enforcement work and co-ordinates anti-counterfeiting programmes for her clients. She has led many IP cases to successful resolution to the satisfaction of her clients.

Sok Ling currently serves as an elected member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Singapore Group) (AIPPI). She has also served as a member of the Sub-Committee of The Law Society of Singapore since 2003. She sits on the panel of mediators for the resolution of consumer disputes with the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE). She is also an associate member of Business China.

Sok Ling is a regular contributor to the firm’s client-centric publication on IP developments in Singapore, and also contributes to consultation papers on proposed changes to the IP legislation in Singapore.

Sok Ling graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 2000 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2001. She has also been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.
