Low Pei Lin is a Partner in Intellectual Property practice and a member of the IP Protection & Management Group.
Pei Lin is a Singapore Registered Patent Agent. She leads a team of patent professionals which drafts and prosecutes patent applications with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and other foreign patent offices. She is a member of Federation Internationale des Conseils en Propriete Industrielle (FICPI), and also holds the FICPI South East Asia Patent Drafting certification.
Pei Lin has been in practice for more than 14 years in the area of IP protection, portfolio and rights management. She has extensive experience in the filing and prosecution of patents, trademarks and designs. She also assists clients in the overall management and coordination of intellectual property portfolios in Singapore and worldwide. Chambers Asia (2011) has praised Pei Lin for her “solid working knowledge” on patent law and for her “responsive, client-oriented service”. She is also recommended as a Leading Individual in Chambers Asia (2011).
Her practice includes prosecuting patents/designs and managing the patent/design portfolios for local/overseas institutes of higher learning and research institutes, government agencies, and large multi-national corporations in diverse fields, including wireless communications, semiconductors and healthcare. Her trade mark clients include significant global news and entertainment corporations, hotel groups as well as large foreign and local banks.
She handles contentious opposition matters and removal actions in respect of patents and trademarks. She also advises on the preparation and review of IP documentation, such as licensing agreements, transfer of technology agreements, franchising as well as the transfer of IP assets.
Pei Lin is a member of the Patent Examination Committee of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) Patent Agent Qualifying Examinations, and is involved in the setting and marking of examination papers. She has recently been elected as Vice President of the Association of Singapore Patent Agents (ASPA). She has also submitted consultation papers on proposed changes to the Singapore Patents Act.
She also actively participates in the work of international IP organisations, and is involved in committee work for the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Asia Patent Attorneys Association (APAA). She serves as the President of FICPI-Singapore and is also a member of the Study & Work Commission Group (for designs) under FICPI.
Pei Lin regularly gives talks in the area of IP, and has given presentations at seminars and conferences, both locally and overseas. She also regularly contributes articles to the department’s quarterly newsletter, some of which have been reproduced in international publications.
Pei Lin graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1996 and joined Allen & Gledhill after being called to the Singapore Bar in 1997.
