Lim Chong Ying is a Partner in Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions. Her areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions involving private equity, trade sales and competitive bids, local and regional joint ventures, schemes of arrangements and reconstruction, schemes of transfer of insurance business and corporate restructuring. She also advises on general corporate law.

Her transaction experience includes advising:

 

The Zuellig Pharma Group in its sale of Zuellig Pharma China to Cardinal Health;

a fund advised by HSBC Private Equity (Asia) Limited in its acquisition of a majority shareholding in The Executive Centre Group that offers premium serviced offices in seven countries and 14 cities, including China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau and Singapore;

a fund advised by HSBC Private Equity (Asia) Limited in its sale of Modern Asia Environmental Holdings Inc., a regional waste management services company with operations in South-east Asia, to Dowa Eco-System Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Dowa Holdings Co., Ltd.;

Singapore Press Holdings Limited in:

-its acquisition of the Blu Inc group companies, magazines titles, trade names and marks; and
-its merger with MediaCorp Pte Ltd of their free-to-air television broadcasting and free newspaper operations;

Kerzner International in its bid for the integrated resort to be built on Sentosa Island, Singapore;

Cordlife Pte Ltd in its merger with Cytomatrix LLC, a company based in Boston, USA and the listing of the merged entity on the Australian Stock Exchange;

Singapore Power Limited in its corporate restructuring involving the transfer of PowerGrid Limited to SP PowerAssets Limited pursuant to a scheme of arrangement and reconstruction;

Insurance companies in its acquisitions and mergers of insurance businesses including:

-restructuring of Chartis’ group Asia Pacific business;
-acquisition of UOB Life and merger of Prudential and UOB Life;
-merger of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and MSIG Insurance (Singapore);
-acquisition of insurance business of Overseas Union Insurance by Reardon;
-merger of Royal & Sun Alliance and Sun Alliance; and
-merger of John Hancock and Manulife.


Chong Ying graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 2001 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2002.
