various corporate schemes of compromise and arrangements, including the Singapore listed Thakral Corporation Limited (cross border schemes in involving Singapore and Hong Kong), Sunway Juarasama Sdn Bhd (cross border schemes in involving Singapore and Malaysia) and Synergy Construction Pte Ltd. Advised creditors in respect of schemes of compromise and arrangements involving Econ Corporation Ltd, China Aviation Oil (Singapore) Ltd, Armada (Singapore) Pte Ltd etc;

advised a syndicate of banks and acted in the recovery of over US$60 million outstandings from the borrowers and guarantors. Acted in and successfully obtained judgment against the guarantors, and subsequently enforcement proceedings including the bankruptcy of the personal guarantors, the winding up of the corporate guarantor and the seizure of the Crown Prince Hotel;

advised and appeared as counsel in various liquidations and judicial managements. In particular, Desmond has successfully obtained stays of liquidation resulting in the revival from liquidation of companies such as DBSF Ltd, Sumitomo Chemical Asia Pte Ltd and Taiyo Birdair Asia Pte Ltd;

advised and appeared as Counsel in various trustee matters, including the resolution of dormant bank accounts, and applications to court for payment into court of unclaimed shares and dividends arising from bonus issues of scrip shares; and

acted for an MNC in a major international commodities arbitration involving a joint venture in an ASEAN country.
