Edwin Tong is a Partner in Litigation & Dispute Resolution. He regularly acts in major corporate, commercial and insolvency disputes for private and public listed companies, major international as well as local banking and financial institutions.
Edwin is recommended for his expertise in dispute resolution in The Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2007/2008) which notes that he is an “active figure”. He is also noted as a leading lawyer in Who’s Who Legal Singapore (2008) which notes that he is an “articulate practitioner”, whose “client list includes a number of major names”.
He has been involved in a number of significant cases which have come before the Singapore Courts in recent years. These include acting for Tiger Airways in a claim against Swissport Singapore Pte Ltd (Swissport) arising from Swissport’s unilateral decision to exit from all its operations from Singapore Changi Airport as well as acting in the first claim brought in the Singapore High Court by a group of Minibond Investors against the issuer and distributor of the Minibonds. He has also acted for a trust company in a property dispute in a High Court trial, and is also acting for the Executrix of an Estate in respect of disputes over a range of assets situated in Singapore and elsewhere in the world. He is acting for the Glory Wealth Shipping Group in a series of restructuring matters in the High Court. He also acted for Seagate Technologies LLC in a US$500 million action and for Bio-Treat Technology Ltd, a company which is listed on the SGX-ST in relation to a S$400 million claim brought by its ex-Chairman and Director.
