Tao Koon is a Partner in Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions. His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, joint ventures and private equity deals. He also advises on general corporate and commercial law, and has experience with varied commercial contracts including distribution, agency and consultancy agreements.

Recent transactions of significance in which he has been involved in includes:

 

advising Global Logistic Properties Limited in its corporate restructuring exercise leading up to its initial public offering;

advising an offshore investment fund in its acquisition of interests in a commercial property development valued at over S$250 million through a limited liability partnership;

advising a property investment fund in its acquisition of interests in a mixed-use real estate development in Singapore valued at over S$240 million, via: (i) the subscription of bonds and preference shares in a special purpose company which owns 100% of the units in the trust holding the property; and (ii) the acquisition of majority interests in the manager of the trust; and

advising a sovereign wealth fund in its joint venture with a US property developer to acquire over US$1 billion worth of land grant rights in the People’s Republic of China.


Tao Koon graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 2003 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2004. He then spent four years as an entrepreneur cum consultant in a regional marketing company with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong, and Manila. There, he developed strong business acumen and honed his execution abilities, negotiation and people management skills. He is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Tao Koon joined Allen & Gledhill in 2008 and is currently the Chairman of the Young Lawyers’ Committee, Law Society of Singapore.
