In 1998, Jason was awarded a Public Service Commission scholarship to study law at the National University of Singapore and graduated with an LLB (First Class Honours) degree in 2002. In 2008, Jason was awarded a Legal Service Commission scholarship to study at Columbia Law School in the City of New York where he obtained an LL.M in 2009.
Jason started his career as a Justices’ Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Jason was thereafter appointed as a Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers. He was subsequently appointed as an Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court and a District Judge of the Subordinate Courts.
Jason has received numerous awards for outstanding advocacy. He was the speaker on three different teams that emerged as champions in international moot competitions: the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition in Washington, USA (2001); the Asia Cup Moot Court Competition in Tokyo, Japan (2002); the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria (2002). Jason was named as the Best Oralist in the Championship Round of the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition in 2001. He was also recognised by the Board of Legal Education as the top Advocacy Student in 2002. Jason was the captain of the Singapore National Debate Team in 1994.
Jason has taught and lectured at the National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University and the Board of Legal Education. His subjects include administrative law, constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedure, international legal process and trial advocacy.
Jason is a member of the Professional Values Committee of the Singapore Academy of Law. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2008 and joined Allen & Gledhill in 2010.
